Iris Light secures US Air Force STTR Phase I contract with University of Arizona

The AFWERX-backed award supports early development of chip-scale optical frequency combs

The AFWERX-backed award supports early development of chip-scale optical frequency combs

Iris Light was selected for a Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contract from the U.S. Air Force through the AFWERX Open Topic program, in collaboration with the University of Arizona. The award supports early-stage development of on-chip optical frequency combs, combining Iris Light’s proprietary photonic ink platform with the University of Arizona’s established expertise in comb technologies.

The Phase I effort will focus on evaluating technical feasibility and integration pathways for nanomaterial-enabled frequency comb architectures. This work lays the foundation for continued development and collaboration, advancing toward scalable, chip-based photonic solutions aligned with Air Force priorities.
